No news and no quotes thus far.
POTUS, FLOTUS, Emmanuel Macron, and Brigitte Macron landed onboard Marine One at 6:07 PM EST outside the Mount Vernon estate. Theirs was the fourth helicopter to land outside the house. POTUS is wearing an overcoat, Macron is not. FLOTUS is wearing black, Brigitte Macron is wearing yellow.
Upon arrival, POTUS and Macron shook hands and hugged as they awaited the arrival of their spouses.
From Marine One they walked past your assembled domestic and French pools toward the plantation house. They posed for photos, then were introduced to their greeters, Sarah Miller Coulson (Regent, Mount Vernon Ladies' Association) and Doug Bradburn (President and CEO, Mount Vernon). They took golf-carts to the house itself. After pausing one more time in front of the house, and posing for photos on the steps, they entered. Pool was ushered to the Potomac river side of the house to see the foursome in discussion on the porch.
At no time was a single sentence discernible to your foreign pooler. Animated discussion and gesticulation at times. Pool is holding while the Presidents and First Ladies dine.
Accompanying the French President and the French First Lady were members of their security and protocol, but no members of the official delegations.
Earlier in the day, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron arrived at Andrews AFB just after 1 PM EST. They were greeted by US Head of Protocol Sean Lawler and French Ambassador to the US Grard Araud. After arriving at Blair House where they will be staying until Wednesday, the Macrons went for a walk down 17th Street toward the National Mall and on to the Lincoln Memorial. They were seen in deep conversation with Araud during a large part of their walk. No press was invited to this unannounced part of Macron's trip. They took the limo back to Blair House.
A few notes from the French Presidency: this is the sixth time the two Presidents meet, the most notable meeting being POTUS' trip to Paris for the Bastille Day parade on July 14. Since Macron came to power, the two Presidents have had around 20 phone calls together, according to the Elyse Palace.
